For Kids?

My 9 year old brother is a history nut and my mom just bought this for him. How much violence/gore, swearing, and sexual content is in this?

reply

Very little. None to speak of really. I first watched this when I was 7 and my parents were very strict about that sort of thing. It was one of my favorites. There is a scene with a prostitute that was cut out when it was shown on the Family Channel in the late 80s, but even that is extremely tame and I didn't notice it at all when I was a kid. There's blood of course, but not a lot by today's standards, and no gore. I don't remember any swearing, there are probably a few damns.

I remember seeing this movie when I was in 5th grade(1990-1991) when my class which was a combined 5th and 6th grade class was learning about the Civil War. And when I saw the movie at that particular period in my life and if it was approved to watch in school, then I believe the movie can be appropriate for children to watch, especially if they are learning about the Civil War in school.
