For those too lazy to look it up in IMDB...

It appears that after Blue and the Gray he did some TV work... with a bit of a recurring roll on NBC's St.Elsewhere. A bit part in the movie Ford Fairlain in 1990 appears to be his last acting job. No bio data was given.

"Probably". The word is "Probably"! Enough of that "prolly" crap.

For those too lazy to spell, not two, you dolt.

Good question. He had such a big role in the movie you would think we would of heard something about him. But after ST Elsewhere, poof! Everyone else in that movie has either done very well or is dead.

I've been unable to find anything on him after 1997 (he was cinematographer for "Out at Work") If he'd kiss ME, I'd be mighty obliged! =0)

reply

1997 is more recent then the things I found. We're getting closer.

when I watch this movie, I am alway stunned at how much John Hammond looks like Peter Weller(the actor who played the orignal ROBOCOP) I pointed that out to my wife. And she too was shocked at the resemblence.... Is it possible that maybe? .I mean thier voices are even alike.. I am not saying that they are the same person...but actors have used mutiple names before...and maybe...

Budweiser Created a Monster. And they call me Drinkin-stien. Oh Hell Yes, I'm A Cardinals Fan!

reply

I hare to tell you, but I am a movie buff but also a portrait artist and impressionist and John Hammond doesn't look ANYTHING like Peter Weller and SOUNDS nothing like him either, and I just watched it on video tonight.

I don't know what John's doing now, but I'm not surprised that he didn't find success as an actor.
I was part of the Blue and the Gray crew (lighting), and most of us were unimpressed with his ability, to say the least. He was a nice guy, but I think he was overwhelmed by the rest of the cast. In scene after scene he's bland, low-key, and one-note. Director Andrew McLaglen would often pull him aside for consultations, but they never seemed to improve his performance.

reply

If his performance was so bland and unimpressive why did they cast him in the role in the first place? I am sure they would have seen how bland he was during the audition process. Also maybe he looked bland because for the most part the rest of the cast are seasoned actors with decades of acting under their belts.

I thought his acting was fine.

I actually came to this board from the "John Hammond" IMDb board because I was curious about his career. It seems he has a bit part in a m4tv movie that's in post-production. I didn't think he was all that bad, but most likely his stiffness was because of being cast as the lead (probably a bad decision) as well as the talent surrounding him. Dewhurst, Lloyd Bridges, Keech, Winfield, Vaugh, Peck.. some big names around 1982.
