What happens to the French player?

When the truck carrying Ossie Ardiles, Russell Osman and most of the team turns up at Michael Caine's prison camp, there is a player in a beret who comes off and introduces himself. He has a few lines - particularly "we play - what else can we do?" You see him in training, you see him in the shower when Stallone is escaping. Then he just disappears, never see him again. This actor doesn't appear in the credits - even here on imdb - he doesn't feature in the final match. Hes not one of the Eastern European refugees (the only one you see featured out of them is Kazymir Deyna), I think hes supposed to be French. Who the hell is he and what happened to him? He has a line or two and hes not even credited. Bugged me for years. Any ideas?
