Any other Icelandic Saga's on Film?

i.e. Egil's Saga?

I thoroughly enjoyed this film (Gisli Saga), it would be marvelous to see Egil's Saga on the big screen. Would this be the most anti-hollywood film of all time, i.e not bowing to the normal architypical hero?

I saw this in highscool 15 years ago. As far as I can recall Gisle is not the typical superhero that the protagonist usually is in the viking sagas, but he _does_ kill a lot of them when they come for him in the end, so much that we were sitting there laughing, because it so contrats with how gritty and realistic it is otherwise.

The indoor scenes was shot in a large garage outside Reykjavik and therefore the techincal quality of the indoor scenes is a bit grainy unfortunately. But i do not think we will see a film with this much realism ever again unfortunately, as they lost quite a bit of money on this movie.

I don't know if there are any other Icelandic Sagas out there on film, but this is quite entertaining. Despite being a bit slow at times, it is quite realistic until the final battle, where Gisli acts like a halfway-done killing machine (he's no Norse super-warrior, but he did kill a bit more men than he realistically should have) before finally dying. Other than that, this quite a good tragedy.

You could give Hrafn Gunnlaugsson's three movies a try. They are When the Raven Flies(1984) , Shadow of the Raven(1988), and The White Viking(1991) . The first two, especially, I enjoyed just as much as The Saga of Gisli.
