Unico an HBO special

Ok Im hearing all this talk about a unico in many different forms. The only Unico I have ever seen and fell in love with went on many adventures. He also had an aquantance a little red devil he would meet with periodically during his travels. I remember watching it after school I think I was in the 8th grade around 2 pm. I know it was on HBO because the old introduction to an HBO special came on and I always loved watching the feature presentation before the movie began. I am 30 years young now and I have been searching for the same movie for years if someone can shed some light or information to this particular unico shown on HBO I would be forever grateful.
