Searching for a live action 80's movie about a pirate

Since this seems to be the board for looking for obscure 80's movies.

This has been bugging me for years.

As a kid I remember watching this pirate movie on tv. I remember it aired quite a bit because I knew some of the songs, so I'm guessing it was a musical. All my searching has come to the pirates of penzance and I've seen a couple versions and that's not it. I don't remember the movie being corny. I remember the song that I liked singing the most was more emotional.

In the movie, I remember there being a beach with a castle. There was a pirate who fell in love with a princess, I believe.

I am convinced that it is not The Pirates of Penzance.

I know you asked a while ago, but I just came on and saw your post... This might sound like a dumb question but... are you talking about "The Pirate Movie"?
