Terrible movie

Just finished watching, I'm a Chevy Chase fan so I saw it. But let me say this is a terrible movie I couldn't wait to finish. Don't waste too much time trying to find it.

It's a terrible movie because you didn't like it. Hum...I'll run all my movies by you just in case. I wouldn't want to be watching terrible movies.

I'm kidding you. But just because you didn't like this film doesn't mean it's a terrible movie. To many of us it's a great movie.

I remember HBO showing this movie pretty often in the early 80's. I rented it on VHS a few years back- funny thing is I still dont remember it very well, so it must not have been to memorable. Good thing Chevy Chase had the Fletch and Vacation movies. Seems Like Old Times was pretty good too.

It's a shame you didn't like it. I never laughed so hard in my life. I especially loved the line delivered by Pat McCormick (Tiny) and this one little lady who had booze as they were getting on the elevator. He said "Ballroom!" and she says "Sorry deary I didn't know I was crowding you!" LOL this was a very funny movie. I liked it better than any of Chevy Chase's Fletch movies and maybe almost as good as Meatballs or CaddyShack.

I watched it with very low expectations after finding it at my local library, and it was even worse than I expected. It's by all accounts a horrible movie, notable only for its obscurity and midgets. If there were ever a petition to keep a movie off DVD, surely this would merit a signature.

WaRPed - Little people don't like to be called "midgets" they prefer to be called "dwarfs". Didn't you see "In Bruges"?

Oh, you're just plain miserable tonight! I take flack for the chinaman part of my tag all the time. People think I'm a chinese maverick.

Did you see "In Bruges"? I just Love that film! All that history and that midget just blew me away. Did you see "The Life and Hard Times of Guy Terrifico"? That dwarf, he was in that. That's the coolest midget I ever seen. I'd marry that one!

Guy Terrifico is a documentary about a country rock musician who's notorious for humping the drum kit and falling off his chair. He dresses like Gram Parsons and drinks like Townes Van Zandt and one day he just up and walks away from the gig to get a good cup of coffee and doesn't show up again for two years. Guy isn't a real person altho the movie acts like he is. He's actually a composite of Gram and Townes and all the other infamous rowdy coked up, drunk singer songwriters that came out of the late sixties and into the seventies. The film stars Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, that dwarf I dig plus Levon Helm and Ronnie Hawkins. They all have stories about this guy who doesn't actually really exist but actually does exist.

You can be the new mr. me
Cause I'm sure that's what you really wanna be
yes sir ree
Me and bob will be someplace sunny where it's funny and it's free
and you can be the new mr me!

Merle's line: "Guy was a great musician but he was just a turd of a human bein'"

If people call a film terrible, then please give the reasons.

If you're going to bother to comment on why you don't like a movie than give some examples.

The cast alone including the wonderful Eve Arden makes me think the OP doesn't know what they're talking about...LOL.

reply

Midgets and dwarfs are two different types of person.

Midgets bodies are proportionate but small. Dwarfs have disproportionately short limbs.

It is indeed a horrible movie. I won't even go into the technical aspects, but the movie is boring, full of clichés, midgets and all kinds of idiotic ideas, it features the masculine-looking "Leia" from Star Wars as some kind of romance item, and the music, and annoying sounds .. I kept waiting for the movie to get better - even a little bit - but it only kept it's stale stench all through the end.

It's a good movie to watch if you want to see a boring and cacophonic mess that doesn't work on any level, despite it's deep dipping into the cliché barrel. Otherwise, I can't understand how even the most insane lunatic could praise this garbage - and many here have, so it makes me wonder what's wrong with those people. Something -must- be.

It's a good movie.

What were you expecting?

reply

I was enjoying it until the ending, which i found a huge letdown. Spoilt the film for me.

reply

I enjoyed the film a lot. You kinda knew that it would end that way. It's like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I think Carrie Fisher was wonderful here as was Chevy Chase. Carrie looked great in her undies. The whole film is a lot of fun and should not be put down. I loved it so much, I bought the DVD when it released a while back.

reply

i hate Chitty Chitty bang bang as well. And the film (not the book, which doesn't end like that) of the Wizard of Oz. I hate all stories that end like that.

reply

I understand your the way you feel, but that is the way these movies are set up, they are "dream movies".
