English translation of lyrics

Does anybody have a good translation to English of the lyrics for "Kahe Ko Byahi Bides" from Umrao Jaan?

I understand it is friends of the bride singing about how she could be married off ot a faraway land, but the only lyrics I found are of the bride asking her father why she is marrying a stranger...

Thanks.

On the Following lines, H> represents the Original Lyrics. E> Represents Translation in English. I do not claim to make exact translation as each word is up for different interpretation. I am trying to make a translation that makes sense.

If you have another set of Lyrics of this Song then please post them I'll translate it for you.

Babul means Father not Fiance

Possible. I stand Corrected.

reply

Not just possible but true. Babul means father.

Traditionally, a girl is understood to be loved and pampered at home, especially by her father and a lot of songs, wedding and others, have the girl asking her father why she has to go away to a strange family (husband's).

So substitute the word Father for FianceƩ and the song makes a lot more sense, especially as in the film it is used to show the scene of the day she is getting engaged.
