Those men were not at the front.

According to a user comment this "story is centered on a small, rural, textile factory during WWII, when most men are at the front". The DVD case states that many men were serving as soldiers inside the Sweden. There is no “front” to speak of. Swedes did not participate in WWII directly. Many did however work in factories, mines or similar as most of the Hitler’s iron originated from Sweden. As a matter of fact Secretary of State Cordell Hull wrote in a letter to the U.S. Ambassador in London, J. Winant that “"...it must be emphasized that the traffic of iron-ore is the most important single contribution, in terms of raw material, made to Germany by any nation outside its pre-war borders."
