DVD Release?
I heard about this movie when I was young, but never saw it. Will it ever be released on DVD?
shareGreat movie. It is avaiable on VHS, but I, too wonder if this will ever be released on DVD. It's long overdue.
shareYeah it is long overdue but there is a problem with it.Warner edited out some footage from the original version and voiced over a couple of things Elvis said.The version that's on the net is the extended version 144 minutes long.The shorter version is about 1 hour and 35 minutes long.I saw the original version on cable a while ago recorded it and have now transferred it to dvd.I have both versions but can't stand the part that's voiced over in the 144 minute version,just because Elvis said a couple of things that I guess would be by today's standards politically incorrect but who cares just some smart a$$ remarks.If you can try and get the original version you will laugh at what he say's in it.

The other part was the boys backstage in the dressing room,
The guys were talking about some girl from last night,
Elvis calls over one of the guys,Jerry Schilling
Elvis.... You know that girl I was with last night man,
Elvis...She gave great head
Hey Joe that chick last night gave the greatest head I've ever had
In the extended version they completely cut out the part in the limo and the part in the dressing room had the voice over saying That girl could raise the dead.Seemed weird to me why they would edit both of those parts out.Someone didn't want that in the movie anymore.

shareThis movie was on cinemax a few days ago. I watched it and those parts of dialogue were included. The movie was 1hr 45 mins. Reealllyyyyyy good movie too!

Due for release in 2007 is an updated version of This is Elvis. This 'Special Edition' is a major project that will have a theatrical release as well as eventual release on DVD. Out will go a lot of the early film footage with the Elvis look-alikes and be replaced with more emphasis on the real Elvis and more music.
