DVD...please!
Why is it that every film I have an interest in isn't available on DVD? Every Damn time!! Every bad film is released on disc but something even remotely interesting is nowhere to be found.

shareIt's available in Australia amazingly enough. (Region 4 PAL) You can order it from ezydvd.com.au
shareIt is available in Australia 103min version i got mine from http://www.ezydvd.com.au
shareTattoo IS available at RLDVDs.com
shareI agree with you. we get a constant flow of crap but we have to wait forever the cult films like this one.
shareThat PAL DVD isn't that good. The quality is awful and the picture is 4:3 ratio. It looks just like the VHS version. When they do the American release I hope they do a decent transfer

I want Tattoo on DVD as much as the next guy, but let's not be ridiculous. Transformers (any of 'em) sells a couple million copies when it's released on DVD/BD...How many copies of Tattoo do you think Fox might be able to move? A few hundred??!?
shareSad but true. I think more likely this would be one of those archive "on-demand" titles where they burn bare-bones DVD-Rs right as the customer orders them. This seems a candidate for that. I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more of those in the future, and hopefully the price will go down. Fortunately, I have it on VHS.
shareThere's one on ebay uk at the moment. All region PAL
shareYou'd think the American obsession with tattoos (especially for women) would justify the release of this movie on DVD. Then again, this movie was made when tattoos on women were a negative thing. It's hard to believe this movie and its poster (banned on NYC subways) caused such a stir in 1981.
Guns! Guns! Guns! Tigers play tonight...never miss a game!
This film was involved with a lot of controversy. Bruce Dern was quoted as saying that the sex scene, though written as simulated intercourse, was not simulated and that due to the circumstances (ahem) the sex scene became actual. Supposedly this incensed Maud Adams who denied there was actual penetration during the scene. I'm not sure if she sued or whatever but Maud's reputation took a hit along with a lot of studio people upset with her actions bad mouthing the film and Bruce Dern.

My favorite: Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
Is this movie ever on HBO or another channel that does not edit movies?
shareI've been trying to find this on DVD for a couple of years and the Australian site mentioned no longer has it. I checked eBay Australia and the only tile listed was also listed on the eBay US site and that is a used VHS tape for $29. I have the VHS tape stashed away somewhere but no longer have my VHS player hooked up.
Finally found this site http://www.ioffer.com/i/TATTOO-1981-Bruce-Dern-Maud-Adams-Cynthia-Nixo n-DVD-141677329 . I placed an order for the DVD using Paypal so we'll see how good the quality is although they say it is not a VHS copy.
UPDATE: Received the DVD from above and the quality looks more VHS-ish than a film to digital copy but still is very acceptable. It is in NTSC Full Frame 1.33:1 and not wide screen. I guess it was filmed this way. All in all an acceptable copy for $17.00.
