The DVD is from Jef Films, which invariably produces an inferior product. The quality is no better than a VHS tape, and a well-worn one at that. It appears to be the complete, uncut version of the movie, but it is nearly unwatchable.
I agree with you that the quality of the DVD leaves a lot to be desired, but at least the film is available again so people can see it. I bought the DVD for only ten bucks. I seriously doubt another label is going to reissue a digitally remastered DVD of this obscure and offbeat movie, so the current admittedly lackluster DVD will have to suffice for now.
Too bad. But as Woodyanders said above this DVD will have to suffice. Seeing Vanity fully nude is worth it though. I remember when Purple Rain came out I immediately recognized Vanity (I was in a theater with 2 friends but neither of them had seen this movie).
I'm hoping against hope this movie gets some BR love but that may never happen.
Whoops! Totally off the mark with that post! I meant The Last Dragon. I usually type these posts after a few drinks so in this case I got my movies crossed. Heh.
