The Title ?

I must admit that when I saw there was a 1981 movie starring Burt Reynolds called 'Sharky's Machine', I assumed it had to be about a racing driver called Sharky with a hotted up vehicle (perhaps not a Pontiac Trans am, but another type of hot car). I soon found out I was completely mistaken. However, I still decided to watch the entire movie and it wasn't too bad for what it was. But the question I must ask is 'What was the significance of the 'Machine' in the title ?

reply

If you had watched the entire movie as you stated you did, you would already know the answer to your question.

In spite of your completely unhelpful reply, I have just gone back and read a section of the story synopsis as quoted here on IMDB, which states

assembling his downtrodden fellow investigators (Sharky's "machine")
which would seem to explain it for anyone else who also didn't pick up what the hell 'Sharky's machine' was from watching the film.

reply

You didn't really have to "pick it up" from the film, as Lt. Frisco himself sarcastically refers to Sharky and his team of downtrodden fellow investigators as "Sharky's Machine".

So although the original responder to you of course was being snarky, he was also right - if you truly watched the movie, you'd know.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

I'll take your word for it that those words were spoken in the film because I honestly don't think I could ever be bothered watching the film again. It wasn't that engaging which is presumably why I didn't pickup or remember the alleged piece of dialogue in the first place.
