whats the deal with the opening scene? it's absolutely amazing, I can watch it over and over..but what's the point of it?!

the dubbing says "I may have been expelled, but I am still the best!"

who is that guy?

My understanding is he was the originator of the Wu-Tang style. Expelled by Shao'lin priests for expanding on the Chin/Kang fist style.
