Saw this movie tonight on TV - thought it was pretty good

Unforunately as a movie and car buff, most of the time i was trying to read the sticker on the back of the Highway patrol falcon, too see if it was Turbo i know a few were made but looking for more info. (don't ask why this is a big issue) :)

Hi Mitchy,

Just watching the movie so I have gone back over the part you are talking about and it seems to be a 1979 Ford Falcon XD GL.

On the left hand side there is the FALCON GL lettering and on the right is the FORD logo.
The letters next to the FORD logo seem to be the police car's ID.
I cannot see Turbo anywhere.

(I am a Holden girl so you must forgive me if I am wrong!)

Well, I have spent far too long looking at a Ford so I'm ff now. lol
Hope this helped??

Have just done some more research ...

"Ford never made an XD Falcon turbo. It is a Falcon GL with a Phase 5 bodykit the same as the Group C racing XD had fitted. If it is fitted with a turbo it is aftermarket."

When we first see the police car at 0:39:45 the markings on the rear of the body at the right-hand side have the Ford logo, and to the left of that a TURBO marking. Next is the licence plate which is ALV (or ALY) 645.

It's probably a bit difficult to make out since the lettering is only about 6-8" high.

A little late, but exactly right. Ford never made a turbo falcon until the introduction of the XR6 turbo in the late 90's.

That is a XD model Ford Falcon (1979-1981), they never came it with turbo, but they did come out with the 5.8L 351 Cleveland engine which could produce large amounts of power.
