Could the nazi have used the ark as a weapon?

Without Indy, after they test it and everybody dies, they could use cameras for a second test and figure out its potential.
Would they have a new weapon?

I think it's quite an ineffective one, if you take no damage just by closing your eyes.
Also, what's its range?

reply

The point of the end was no. The Nazis no matter where or who could use the Ark as a weapon.

Nobody could. Not the Allies, the goths, the punks, new romantics, mods or rockers could open it and use it as a weapon.

Its like if God left an old buddy his mobile phone number and a kid got hold of it and started calling to score some weed, God would just hang up, leaving his voicemail. Which happened to be the angels of death.

Not even the new romantics could?
Goddammit!

reply

They did. They convinced Millennials and Zoomers that anyone who doesn't agree with the mimbos on CNN is a nazi!

Boring answer: we don't know.

Presumably, if it really is the Ark of the Covenant, it'll only do what God wants it to do.

But one of my own favorite fan theories about the pulp fiction universe of Indiana Jones is that magic is real but deities don't have to be.

Some templar knights find an ancient cup that heals those who drink from it, so they conclude that it's the Holy Grail and treat it as such.

Ancient Egyptians find a box that, when opened, destroys everyone who looks at it, so they conclude that it's the Hebrews' Ark of the Covenant and bury it in the Well of Souls.

In that case, the Nazis could have figured out how it worked. It wouldn't take long for the Allies to realize it doesn't work when their eyes are closed, but for at least a few major battles, the Ark could be a decisive weapon.

So we agree, it is a powerless and ineffective weapon.
So, any army that carries the ark before it, is....just silly.

But...what about Tanis? They make it sound like the ark deleted it from the world.
Do we really see everything it's capable of? Can it switch to something worse?

reply

I'm not a historian or know much about old testament stuff but I would have thought the Ark, being created by Israelites (Jews, unless I'm terribly mistaken) was used to defeat the enemies of Israel. In Nazi hands it feels like they've got themselves a self-destruct button.
