Anyone know what the female leads are doing nowadays?

Anyone know what the female leads (the girls who played Sue, Debbie, Cheryl, etc.) are doing nowadays?

Thank you in advance.

'Debbie' works in radio I believe. I think 'Sue' did 1 more film and then retired so to speak. You wont find her anywhere on the internet.

Thanks, polgara69.

I did "google" the gal who played Debbie (and quite well for never having acted on-camera before!) and saw what you have nicely told to me. I also googled Jad Capella, the gal who played "Sue" (also convincingly) and you are correct here, as well -- Noooooo where to be seen on the 'net, which I think is odd, don't you?

I think thats just because she slipped out of the fame radar. A lot of what is on the net is put on by the people themselves and if they werent in it for long it would be easy to stay away from it all. I am curious as to what jad looks like now but there is nothing.

AGREE with all that you have said.

Jad's an interesting name, isn't it? Never heard of it, have you? Then again, I'm not Aussie, I'm American.

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that Jad is short for Jadranka, which according to various Google searches is a name of Croatian origin. Given that many people from Croatia and elsewhere in the former Yugoslavia emigrated to Australia after WWII, I would imagine that Jad Capelja's family background is from that area.

katinka1969,

Wow, cool. Thank you! Good for you doing some of the more complicated "detective work". I tried to look up stuff about this actress, and came up dead-blank each time!

Nell Schofield is on Facebook, btw. I looked her up there (typed her name into the FB search field area), and she came right up. I added her just for kicks and she reciprocated and added me back.

Hey, FormsInFlux:

Cool screen name, by the way ...

Yeah, that's exactly what I noticed ... that everyone seems to have kinda vanished into the acting ether, and/or not pursued acting all that seriously after being in this film. I tried to google many names up to and including the Geoff dude who played Nell Schofield's character's (Sue?) boyfriend (the character who OD'd in the film ...) but I didn't see anything on him, either.

Oh, Nell's on FB by the way. I'll post the link to her page here. Hang on.

OK, here ya gooooooo, Nell on Fb:

Yes, it's the real deal, her real page.

I'll bet I could search for the other actors in her friends' list (?)
Haha, I just thought of that ...

Ohhh, kaaaay, I just searched for Leander Brett, Sandy Paul, and someone with the first name of Geoff in Nell's friends list. I also searched for Jad Capellja or someone with the first name of Jad.
None of my searches came up fruitful.
Hmmm, I'll bet she just lost touch with 'em.
Oh, well. At least I found HER. Took her forever to add me back, but, I'm in now.

Thanks, Flux. My Screenie comes from my affinity with the Dogtown section of LA's vicinity, my love of sun, beaches, fun, surfing, skate-boarding, and of course the film "Lords of Dogtown" and the doc "Dogtown and Z-Boys"!!

Cool to know what's become of the dude who played Strach -- The character was awful to his women in the film, wasn't he? Yecccch! Part Aborigine, eh? He looked a bit half-caste, in the film, didn't he? Handsome devil, too.

I heard the dude who played Sue's boyfriend in the film (Geoff something-or-other, forget his last name) really did date Ms. Schofield in real life. Ilove it when that happens, don't you? When stars have that chemistry off-cam. Makes the acting all that much more realistic and less like acting. Love that ...

Say, do you work in The Industry, Aussie or otherwise? Have you a link for Ned lander, possibly? I'd like to read more about him.

Tonight's "Australian Story" on the ABC provided a sad update.

Jad Capejla, after many acting and NIDA rejections, and too much grass and grog, became paranoid schizophrenic and suicided recently. She has an adult son who thankfully has turned out OK, recently qualifying as a lawyer.

Nell Schofield, still surfs today (a shortboard too), is gay and shares a rustic cottage in the bush with her girlfriend. As others have said she works in radio after also being rejected for acting roles since PB.

THANK you very much for this, Mr. Biggleworth!

Yes, I know about Nell S. being gay and still living. I am her pal on Facebook, in fact.

Wow ... didn't know about Jad, though. Man, that's SAAAAD.

Say, tell us where we can view the Australian Story eppie, eh? I'd love to see that one, actually. Does the ABC website still have it up for freebie viewing? I live in the USA, west coast.

I find it baffling that they both were rejected and had so many offers turned down after they did Puberty Blues, because they showcased a lot of talent and potential in the film. RIP Jad.
