I did like to chase the girls when I was in my teens but not to that extent.
Although my experiences in high school were also in Australia and I have to say if you were a young girl from a country where conservatism was valued you soon changed. We had a really gorgeous girl from Malta come to our school and the girls all took her in and befriended her but she totally changed from being a nice girl to one of the "cool kids" and lost her niceness.
I always felt sad at the sudden change in her because we were friends till the change.

I know what you mean. I was NEVER popular in high school. But I've always wondered if it was much better to be in the popular group. They seemed happy, but hearing some of their stories now that they are adults, or watching "Puberty Blues" makes me wonder if I wasn't better off.
At least I never turned out like poor Freda. Talk about scarred for life! I was mostly just invisible.
I also experienced friends changing, sometimes due to new popularity with boys or girls. It hurt, but I have realized now that they were just kids, they didn't know what their identity was yet, they had to try lots of things on.
That being said, it never justifies rape or the pressure guys would put on girls to have sex. It's tough being a girl in high school that's for sure! Of course I don't know what it was like for a guy, maybe for some, it was tough too? Having to worry about being beaten up all the time can't be fun.

Funny thing is in primary school I was relatively popular but the change to high school totally undid all that.
I did have friends but not that many. So it wasn't a very fondly remembered part of my growing up. And guys did that stuff to the girls about pressuring them for sex.... They did that a lot at my high school.
