DVD...Please!

I saw this in the theater in the early 1980's and thought it was very interesting and extremely well acted. This definitely needs a DVD release. Hear that Criterion?

Finally... Kino Lorber is releasing this on DVD and Blu-ray on 6/21 (along with Joseph Losey & Tom Stoppard's "The Romantic Englishwoman") as a Director's Cut Special Edition. Kino is about as close to Criterion as you can get.

Just thought you'd like to know that the "Director's Cut" cuts out about half an hour, though some of this may be restored in the "deleted scenes" section (through which the director speaks). (I have not seen the original version, but imdb's "Technical Specs" section give the length as 125 minutes, as does Leonard Maltin. The DVD's version is only about 99 minutes.) (One of the most provocative deletions is actually restored in the included interview with Ian McKellan.)
