What does the company guys mean by
" Does our subject still wear pink socks?"
-Simply confused.
( P.s I know what "pink socks" means. Just can't put it in the right context.)
I'm listening through the commentary trying to find an explanation about that...
"The whole story of Mark's activities – professional activities and the Eastern Bloc – that stands from my origins, I'm from over there, so what seems in the film, I guess, unclear, is very clear for me: he was a spy, and he went to a place like Romania or Bulgaria, I think, where some stupid communist dictators wearing pink socks, because they want to be so western, you know, are still around today, but I never took enough care to explain that to a western audience I admit. For me it was clear and I couldn't care less..."
Also, the way you say "I know what pink socks means" is a little alarming, because I googled pink socks and urban dictionary is giving a very different meaning from socks that are pink which is what we're talking about... ;)

I'm going to watch this movie again, soon, in hopes of gaining a bit better understanding of it.
