Since we're talking about catching bullets with their teeth, didn't 'JAWS' in one of the James Bond movies do it?

at least before Ace Ventura, The Last Dragon, Weird Al in UHF, and Arnold in Terminator 3

Jaws never caught a bullet in his teeth. Bond shot him in the mouth and it bounced off. I don't ever remember a person catching a bullet in his mouth before this. Does anyone else remember a scene before this.

In a Saturday Night Live sketch.., or maybe it was Friday's.., Christopher Reeve was the guest host.. They joked that he was supposed to catch the bullet in his teeth, but it kept ricocheting off his chin or cheek.
It was supposed to be his audition for SUPERMAN: The Movie. The other guy, played by Rich Hallm was perfect for it, but he didn't want it. He was waiting for a call back on a soap commercial.

I believe the bullet in the teeth gag is an old western myth, in movies it probably goes back at least to the '50s in westerns, in stage shows and folklore it probably goes back to the 1800s.

reply

yeah it was part of the wild bill legends
