DVD Not Widescreen?

Got the DVD from Amazon today and although the case says WIDESCREEN across the top, the picture plays in full screen. What's more, the picture appears stretched, making everyone too thin. This is the first time this has happened with one of my discs. I tried adjusting the settings of both my player and my TV but nothing works. I saw a review at Amazon complaining about their copy not being widescreen, either. Anyone else having this problem?

I too had this problem. I am not pleased.

Didn't have this problem with my dvd. Mine was widescreen and looked decent enough. Have seen better but have seen alot worse

Guys it sounds like your DVD players are not set up correctly. The movie is likely in anamorphic widescreen (my copy should arrive any day so I can't confirm yet). This means that the picture can adjust itself to fit widescreen tv's. It sounds like you don't have widescreen tv's but have you dvd player set as such. This will stretch the picture as you described and remove the black bars (on all 1.85:1 ratio films, like Super Snooper/Fuzz, wider movies will leave some black bar).

Solution:

*Go into the video options of your dvd player and set it to 4:3 letterbox instead of 16:9.*

I would like to thank "manda442". I never knew that you could change the settings like that. I went in and changed to the 4:3 letterbox and it worked! I have been waiting so long for a widescreen copy of Super Fuzz. The fullscreen version I had always looked crowded.

I just thought about checking if anyone else had the same problem. I am so glad I did because now I can watch it the way I want to.

Thanks again to "manda442" for informing me about something I didn't know.
