4. One of the investors on this film was named Van Leuwen. The head suit for Weyland-Yutani at Ripley's hearing is also named Van Leuwen.

5. In the climactic scene, two of the main characters flee the pursuing piranhas via an air duct in the sunken ship, just as Ripley and the marines do from the Aliens on LV-426.
6. In both films, corporate financial gain is what causes people to die (Hotel Resort Manager in "Piranha II," and Weyland-Yutani in "Aliens.")
7. Both films have intelligent, headstrong lead female characters.
There are also some similarities between the chestbursters and the flying piranhas. There is a scene or two where the angle makes the fish look xenomorphic.
