The Editing of the video is horrendous

OK, little late to be noting this (only 30 years after the fact), however:

I cannot abide are the constant blending of scenes onto one another by the video director. OK, as a camera change, maybe you could cross-fade from one camera to another, fading one out as the second fades in. If used very modestly and it serves some purpose.

But this guy has constant "artistic" blending shots, showing 2 different scenes at once, or, disconcertingly, showing the same scene from different points of view.

How difficult is it to show a show that's already staged for you? ALL you have to do is film it. Apparently, it's pretty difficult, or it's pretty easy to screw up.

It's sad that this is the only real record of Fosse's fantastic production and the video direction and editing is itself so poor.

I was reading some comments in the Reviews sections that entire important scenes were left out (I'm not as familiar with the show so I can't speak to that). But this, also, would be another failing of the video director.

I agree. I remember the TV commercial showing Vereen dancing with two leggy girls and it was shot better than in was in this production. Very disappointing. Camerapeople
should learn that dancing should be shot straight on.

"Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?"

The new Fosse biography says Fosse hated the editing and how David Sheehan ignored all his notes on what to do to change it. After seeing the finished show Fosse apologized to the cast and crew.
