Another similar DVD

'Empires - Peter & Paul and the Christian Revolution' (2003). This is more of a documentary (with good reenactment), by PBS. It generally tells about the same story, except with a little more about culture, history, and politics during the times of Jesus, Peter, and Paul. It is available thru amazon.com. There is some criticism about it there, but I thought it was enlightening even tho I am a rather conservative Christian. But if I had to chose between the two, Id chose the movie with Anthony Hopkins and have the faith to believe it; I first watched the movie many years ago after reading the bible book of Acts and thought it was a very good reenactment of the only book in the bible to tell of historical events after the death of Jesus related to the formation of Christianity.

Tony Hopkins interpretation was outstanding. He , I felt portrayed all of the angst that the original Saul/Paul must have endured. And the anger. That's not a side of Paul that even fervent Christians are normally accustomed to. But they would be if they read Acts or any of Paul's Epistles. Apparantly Mr. Hopkins did.
