High Noon in space

Very cool idea imo.

I believe the original intention for the director was to make a western but this genre wasn't in vogue at the time so they reworked it to have a sci-fi setting instead. Period reviews from the time also mentioned the many similarities to High Noon, even down to the swinging bar doors!

That's what it "Boyles" down to.

But much more entertaining imo.

It was like, "Hey, taking the old spooky haunted house concept and putting an outer space sci-fi industrial facade over it worked for Alien. Let's try the same thing with a western." Personally I think it worked great.
