O'Niel? Why not O'Neil?

What kind of weird spelling is O'Niel? I've never seen that spelling before. It's distracting - I thought it was misspelled the entire movie.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

This reminds me of Jack having the last name O'Neil in the first Stargate film and it being changed to O'Neill in the television series.

This spelling exists, you can check that. Why not use it? Should characters'names have the most common spelling? Why? And why care about that?

They used the word "dependants" in the opening. And Spectre was one of the character's names?? lol

The surname on his uniform changes throughout the film. Sometimes it's O'Neil, then it's O'Niel. Great film but a bit dated now with the model work and Lo-Tech.
