they never show this on tv

hoping that posting this changes that. but i never see it in the guide. i see other things called outland, but never this one.

reply

Then how do you know it was suicide.

Great line.

It seems to be a forgotten film. Back in the early to mid-80s CBS used to air this film on Friday or Saturday nights every so often.

reply

I remember seeing it on TBS or TNT a few years back. It was late night

reply

When I first got cable in 1983, this was on almost constantly. I must have seen it 20 times on HBO, TMC, or CINEMAX.

reply

It's on cable channel El Rey now. Look for it on this channel in the future.

reply

It's on Comet right now.

reply

yeah, i happened to catch some of it then. i hope they show it again, i had to split after the first 1/2 hour.

reply

^Yup, just caught the last 20 minutes or so on Comet.

reply

They definitely should, it deserves to be seen.

reply

It's a fine thriller, an outer space 'Western' with a very good cast and story

Weird how it's sort of forgotten now

I just watched it again last week from my old DVD that isn't even formatted for widescreen TV'S. You're right. I never see it pop up on cable or streaming services. Other Peter Hyams films like Capricorn One and 2010 are regularly available on streaming. Outland is actually pretty good even if it comes across a little like an Alien clone in terms of its title sequence, production design and score. I especially like any scene between Connery and the great Frances Sternhagen.
