Just Noticed a Possible Goof

I'm watching this movie now, and had to pause to bring up a possible goof that I just noticed. I had never noticed this before. The scene when Katherine Hepburn walks in the door after skinny dipping with Jane Fonda, Henry Fonda exclaims, "I thought you'd be nude." Right after he says that line, there is the distinct sound of a man chucking for a second or two off camera. Katherine Hepburn is clearly thrown off character by this chuckle for a second and looks in the direction of the laugh before getting back into character and delivering her next line. I thought that maybe one of the other characters might have laughed, but no one else was in the room. Henry Fonda clearly did not laugh. Anyway, has anyone read or heard anything about this particular goof in the movie? It's not mentioned on the list of goofs on IMDB.

maybe it was one of the loons! lol

i've seen this a million times but never noticed the chuckle you mention. not saying it doesn't exist, i just never took note. unfortunately, i don't own a copy on dvd (yet) so i can't check any time soon.

on a side note, i was 6yrs old when this came out...i saw it in the theater at that time and it's been a favorite ever since.

"He must've thought it was white boy day. It ain't white boy day, is it?"

I know this is an old post, but I checked out this scene (On Golden Pond is on Netflix) and you're right - clearly someone chuckles and it distracts Katherine for a second. That's a great catch, I've watched this movie a million times and never noticed this before!

That's Henry Fonda chuckling. He says, 'I thought you'd be nude. Ha ha ha.' Hepburn looks up momentarily while he chuckles, like you said, but it's definitely him and not a crew member.

Yep, it's Henry Fonda. I've heard that chuckle a number of times, and he does the same chuckle several times in this film. In fact, you hear the exact same chuckle a minute later just after he says that Bill "finds me fascinating."

Holy crap! I just heard it after all these years and tons of viewings!!

Interestingly, a few seconds later, when talking about Bill, Sr. Norman says "He finds me fascinating", you hear the exact same laugh, but it's clearly coming from Henry Fonda!! Makes me wonder about the first one, because he's clearly not laughing the first time.
