Carpe Diem
I had the pleasure of playing "Bill Ray" (the Coleman role) in a community theater production of this play some years ago--and this line was one of the bigger laughs in the show. The old gentleman who played "Norman" was a recently retired aeronautics engineer, and he NAILED the part! It was his first time acting, too.
Anyway, I have been in many plays at the regional/community theater level and have had one professional gig, but my one scene in this production is my fondest acting memory.
Oh, and at our awards banquet at the end of the season, "Norman" (his real name was Herman) won Best Actor, and I came away with Best Supporting. A real treat.
This was one of the funniest moments in the film.
