Code Red DVD- 2008 Hi-def Master vs. 2011 telecine

Which one should I watch? I'm guessing the 2011 transfer is better but it's weird that it is on the second disc.. I don't want to end up watching a bad quality or edited down version of the film on accident

thanks! second disc is the way to go for sure. Don't really know the point of having 2 versions of he movie, one shoddier than the other... but oh well, I'm happy to own it

Though if you're at all interested in the commentary go for the first disc.
Also the first disc gives the option to watch the movie letterboxed or full (open) framed.

Funny on the commentary they mention the movie will be in the (OPEN) version but the commentary is ONLY on the (LETTERBOXED) version.

So there is only one anamorphic version (on the second disc), while the first disc transfer is letterboxed? Are you sure?

How about the Code Red BD? Is that one anamorphic or letterboxed? HD or telecine?

Haven't bought it, as of yet, since I live in Europe...

2011 print is best.

The frame was re-alligned on the 'vibrator/peep show' scene too, so you now see FAR more than ever before.

Do both prints have all the gruesome stuff? I want to watch the one that has EVERYTHING.

reply

Yeah, all version on the DVD are uncut for violence/gore.

The running time actually differs slightly for all three versions by mere seconds. The full frame version on Disc 1 is the longest with a running time of 1hr. 38min. 22 sec., the 16x9 is slightly shorter coming in at 1hr. 38min. 14sec., and the Telecine version on Disc 2 has a running time of 1hr. 38min. 08 sec.
