I just wanted to say how much I like Stallone with beard. He is so cool with it. It makes his insane eyes pop out even more! Wonder why he never made another bearded movie. I also wonder wheather he grew it to conceal some temporary surgery scars. Or to make him look more tough (like on the "Heart's on Fire" clip)
Another movie where he appears bearded is ROCKY 4 during his training in Russia.
It's just in that sequence and I agree when you say beard gives him a tougher appearance.
I must be the only one that prefers Sly without the beard.

IMO, Stallone never looked better than he did in "Nighthawks"! That beard was workin' for him. This is my fav Stallone movie, period. One of my top 5 fav films! I'm surprised I don't spend more time on this board. Hmmm...?

shareYes the beard definitely suited him, should have done it again in the 80's or 90's for a whole movie (I know about Rocky 4. Interesting point you made about hiding surgery scars because he did look radically different after Rocky 2 and in Escape to Victory, and the dramatic weight loss of course.
