It was NOT Reba!!

Someone placed a Comment on this movie saying it was based on "the Reba McEntire song of the same name". She may've eventually done the remake but this song was done by Vickie Lawrence, NOT Reba.

Thank you! I'm glad there are others that knew of the song and the movie BEFORE Reba recorded her cover of it. Heck, I don't think she did a version of it until the early 90's-late 80's at the earliest.

AND....if I am not mistaken, didn't Vickie Lawrence's hubby at the time write it?

Yes, then he left her IIRC.

I have the Vicki Lawrence version on a 45, still in good shape.

I also have the soundtrack to this movie, (LP), also still in good shape.

I have the Vicki Lawrence single as well, still in good shape.

I also have the soundtrack LP in good shape.

In fact, both single and LP are in a lot better shape than I am these days!

I'm sure they probably do, but it's still odd to print that on a DVD of a 1981 movie, touting a version that "inspired" it, that was not recorded/released till 1992.

The movie isn't about the song Vicki OR Reba sang... Tanya Tucker wrote new lyrics the movie is based upon.
