Why has this film been forgotten?

I'm watching this on a bad bootleg DVD that I have had for a while.

It's so sad to me that so many of these early '80s movies have been forgotten about. This was, from what I remember, a pretty decent success when it came out. I have always adored this movie and loved the soundtrack. I can kind of see where now it might be frowned upon...I mean, Kristy's character was underage, and here is a COP that falls for her and hits on her, takes her into his home...LOL...

I would LOVE to see this have an official release on DVD, with a cleaned up picture and sound, and in widescreen.

I have the sountrack on album but it's gotten so scratchy sounding and a tad bit warped over the years. I wish I could find it to download somewhere so I can put it on my iPod. Anyone have any links or anything??? Kristy McNichol wasn't the best singer, but I think it she'd had some good training she would have been alright. She can carry a tune in this and in "The Pirate Movie".

Lack of DVD release tends to relegate films to the backpage annals of history...

There are a lot of older movies that do not get released on DVD ( as many people know the market collapsed years ago). I remember it was done by a small company ( I think Avco Embassy), so it does not help distribution.
