Waht was so scary about it ?

I first saw this when I was five, so it is not as scary now as it was then.

I thought this movie was horrible. The killer is not scary at all. He's more of a dork than anything. There were some scenes in this movie that were just so goofy that turned it into a laugh riot. Such as when the killer is talking on the phone and disquising his voice, and when the punk rock host lady's son is wrapping saranwrap aroud his own face and talking weaping about being crazy. Very, very asinine which made it hilarioius.

I know it's pretty cheesy, by todays standards. But I saw it when I was very young, and I had never seen anyhting like that before in my life.
I only reecently, thought about it. For the first time in 24 yrs.
Thats why I logged on to see what you guys thought.
Evil Vira, Mysterious of the Dark. Did a show, where she hacked up this flick. It was pretty funny. I would love to see it now.
The two things that stand out most in my mind, were his voice when he did an obsceen phone call on her.
And when her husband came clean about being the killer.
I can't remeber. Did he tell her that she had him castrated or something.
I remeber, he told that he thought it was sick, the way she comes onto there son, in a incestious way.
You gotta remeber, I was 9 years old. Stuff like this blew me away.

still i find all but the truly scary stuff actually scary now that i'm an adult. This movie would have been laugh out loud funny to me as a kid. Seeing that the killer is this dorky guy would have drove me away .

Now THIS movie is indeed worthy of a remake. Stop remaking the classics. THIS is the type of movie they SHOULD be remaking...this film had a good premise but a lousy execution. If the basic scenario/script was given a good re-write and a competent director was at the helm, you'd have a pretty good flick.

Great idea. Rather than some punk show, they could use the backdrop as something like American Idol or The X Factor (if you're British). I always think a show like that would be a perfect set-up for a slasher pic.

I always wanted to see this when I was a teenager renting videos constantly
on the weekends. Every time I would want to check it out it was unavailable.

I've never seen it and it's not on DVD. The VHS tapes of it are pricey too!

I watched it last night on Youtube, Not really a great addition to the Slasher Genre but it was watchable.

His Motivation was somewhat questionable, but he was a nutcase so who cares.

It was hard to find scary when I thought the killer was smokin' hot.

I love old horror/slasher/thrillers but this was def bottom of the barrel. This movie did very little for me.

I wouldnt say scary, but the phone calls were indeed creepy, as well as the mask.

reply

I thought the voice device and the mask were excellent touches. Very creepy, if not scary.
