The Nesting Blu Ray is NOT the directors cut!

apparently blue underground decided to change at the last minute the directors cut from the blu ray and DVD of the Nesting to the original version and put the deleted scenes as a seperate feature! i just went on blue undergrounds website and its only the theatrical version and the once announced directors cut looks like is not avalible on the blu ray or the DVD. thats ashame. but at lease were getting deleted scenes.

That really stinks. The extra footage must have been in terrible shape. They(not Blue Underground) did the same thing with Event Horizon promising an extended cut and then saying the cut footage "was not up to Blu-ray standards". In other words they don't want to spend the money on a frame by frame restoration. Can't blame them in this regard because "The Nesting" is definitely C material.

Blue Underground needs to be thanked for bringing some of the older horror movies to Blu-ray. Most of the time they do a fantastic job with I am sure less than adequate sources.

EDIT: I just watched the deleted scenes(about 12 minutes) and they add nothing to the movie. No nudity, no gore, no added story. It's just extra dialog and a couple of extra minutes of the car chase. Totally unnecessary and the movie would have dragged even more than it already does. There is only a little one minute attic clip that might have been fine if reinserted. The deleted scenes look pretty good and are rendered in HD.

i think the reason they didnt do the directors cut was because they couldnt find the audio for the extended car chase scene. but some of the extended dialouge should of been added like lauren mentioning not being able to find out who her mother was at the begining and dialogue at the col.s house. the extended car scene was great even though i was hoping to see cut scenes of the great and underused in this movie Gloria Grahame.

I actually think that would have spoiled the "twist". I know it would have had me thinking of that when it mentioned the Colonel's son and his "girlfriend". Did you really like the car chase? I really thought the extended deleted scene of the chase was God awful. I would have rather them cut that whole scene and have the attic one reinserted.

Someone else mentioned it had a "The Shining" feel to it especially with the music choices. I really couldn't get into it because it kind of gave me the feeling I was watching a cross between "The Shining" and "Ghost Story". I just think they should have either stuck with the haunted house angle or gone with the straight revenge story. You have to love Blue Underground for putting these long lost horror moves out in HD.

The only deleted scene that should have been retained in the theatrical cut is the one in which the heroine talks to the policeman about the doctor falling to his death. It's less than two minutes long, and provides a little clarification.

I was hoping for more footage of Grahame (the best thing about the film) but, sadly there is none. And the deleted scenes added nothing.
