This is one of the greatest movies i`ve ever seen

(first of all: i am not a native english speaker, so excuse my writing, please) I have loved this movie since I saw it when i was 8 years old. Now I´m 22 and cursing a degree in art and literature, and i´m specially intrested in the filmic matter.
this movie is a perfect example of a dark comedy. The jokes are all absurds and sometimes cruels, but I think of it as a representation of the dayly non sense.

For those of us who English is our first language the movie is a mess.

I couldnt agree more. I thought it was dreadful, a big disapointment after "blues brothers"

reply

I disagree in a hearty fashion. I AM an native english speaker, and this is probably my favorite movie of all time. The movie displays an absolute disregard to any sort of logical pattern in human nature and language, for that matter. A movie like this truly shows the freedom movies can (and should) use.

I think this film was so funny I could go mad. Nobody should say this film is rubbish and start giving this film 4.8/10 they should be saying how great it was.

"How much for your wife" {John Belushi} The Blues Brothers 1980.

John Belushi 1949-1982 The king of comedy.

i just got this dvd and this movie is really funny

man ,a screwball thing is one...
..but "neighbors" was simply a sad attempt to make a movie out of it...
...the only thing i grant to it,is the performances of them actors..

Native English speaker or not, this film is just great.

the film's bizzare absurdism creates an off kilter feeling that works extremely well with the dark comedy.
the subtle mixed with the over the top is a treat.
Belushi and Ackroyd's final teaming
the suburban working middle class feel of the location and characters
the Door's "Hello, I Love You"
sexually implied jokes that aren't in your face
classic early '80's attitude
cherry flavor edible panties
the beautiful Cathy Morarity

that's 10 reasons it's a great movie.....do we need to add more??

"Remember when I took those shots at you last night...I knew it was you...that's why I missed."

I saw Neighbors when it came out. Laughed my a** off!! Saw it recently. It's a little flawed, but still really funny. I had the hots for Cathy Moriarity for about a decade after that came out.

FOr those of you that smoke a littel weed---this is a great stoner flick.

reply

gosh i 1st saw this in my teens, and was just provoked by it...i recently got it again, now in my early 30ies,and it simply sucks...I know Belushi was on drugs...but gee,was it THT bad?!...the script stinks...
...the whole thing does...how couldnt it...the guy directing it was the same one tht did rocky (!!) the karate kid(s) and god knows wht else...

reply

This is one of those movies that you either "get it", or you don't. There is no in-between. This is the darkest of dark comedies, and a true classic.

It's been something like 20 years since I've seen this, but me and my brother and sister used to watch it all the time. My girlfriend back then and her brother both loved it too. We all thought it was superb.

Worth seeing, but not worth going to see.

I was 8 when this came out, never got around to watching it until today. I don't know what some of you people see in it but I thought it was one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen. Lol nothing made sense, I'm glad I watched it once but just like Johnny Dangerously I'll only watch it ...... once.

reply

The only funny part of this movie is Tim Kazurinsky. Period.
