Tom Scott's original score

I always thought that Bill Conti's musical score all-but ruined this movie. It's so cutesy and cloying. There are clips of "Neighbors" on YouTube with Tom Scott's original score put over them. IMO this brooding, ominous music serves the movie's mood much better. With Scott's score, instead of "Neighbors" being a minor financial success that passed into near-obscurity, it might have been a huge financial debacle that became a cult classic. Not sure if that's preferable, but just sayin'...

Completely agree. Hopefully it'll see a Blu-Ray release one day with a 5.1 mix (so the dialogue can be isolated) and someone could have a go at reinstating the original score. Also the song John Belushi recorded with the punk band Fear, which he apparently wanted to over the end credits has recently become available.

I agree, the soundtrack is atrocious. From the very beginning of the movie it overwhelms everything and sounds like a cartoon, then it just stops, and then it starts back up randomly. A good score adds to the movie in subtle ways, this was like bagpipes at a harp concert.

Whispered the sound...............of silence
