Performing in real life

Early in the movie, Andre mentions how his mentor Jerzy Grotowski had stopped working in theater because everyone was performing in real life. 40 years later, this is even more true. So many people feel compelled to film their most intimate & meaningful moments—marriage proposals, family reunions, baby reveals, etc.—to be shared with the world. And it's as if those moments don't really exist, aren't really REAL, unless they're a public performance. As if they have to be seen, recognized & validated by absolute strangers in order to have any meaning at all.

Not a good trend for personal authenticity, to say the least.
