That age old question...

If you could have a dinner with two people, living or dead, who would you choose?

I can now rule out two.

reply

Not a film for everyone, and clearly not a film for you. I've watched it many times & I've always gotten something new out of their fascinating conversation.

reply

Not you, so that's a start.

Having an opinion can save your life. Just ask Marvin.

Andrei Tarkovsky. Takovsky's passion and dedication to art/life is magnificent and he seems so poetic in all the documentaries I've seen of his work.

Rainer Maria Rilke. Probably my favorite poet. I would like to hear him reflect upon life and love for an evening.

reply

James Joyce and Dick Cheney.

First off, I'd stab Cheney in the right eye with my salad fork for symmetry's sake.

Then I'd ask Joyce if the final thunder in Finnegans Wake is, indeed, the creation of television.

reply

That gave me a big laugh, thanks.

reply

That's a tough question, because I like people's art/accomplishments, but I don't really know how they are as people to have a dinner and interact with.

Edward Hopper and Steve Mqueen (the movie director) , I guess. Maybe David Mamet, too.

reply

Kubrick and Scorsese perhaps.

Paris Hilton and London Tipton.

I suppose I'd choose Edgar wright and probably Richard ayoade (one of my favourite comedians and a great director)
