John Hill Did he or didn't he?

About 30-35 years ago I read the two books written about the real life melodrama of this family. Some things always bother me about this case that doesn't add up to me. I'm watching the television movies right now and once again. Bam! The same questions I always have wondered about, especially from the book Blood and Money. If Dr Hill was innocent of the death of his wife Joan, then why did he inject himself with a drug right before going into the hospital for his official lie that would calm him during lie detector test? If he was innocent there would be no need to use it. That was my first suspicion, second one was after falling off of the motorbike and dislocated his shoulder he didn't want to go to the hospital to have it treated because they would use sodium thiopental that if asked a question while under it, he would unable to lie while being treated for his shoulder injury. And, third no autopsy could was performed because he wanted her in the ground, very quickly. This isn't what an innocent man does.

He did, without a doubt.

There was so much suspicious about this case. I don't buy the tainted eclaire story, but think of it this way: You are a prominent surgeon having a torrid affair and wanting out of your marriage. So she becomes deathly ill and you do nothing until the in-laws demand she go to the hospital. And then strangely he takes her not to the medical center which is ten minutes away and where he has admitting privileges but to some tiny pissant hospital in the boonies at the time. She dies within 24 hours of admission which state law demands an autopsy yet he has her embalmed immediately with no autopsy. It's all too suspicious.

As for Ash being responsible for the hit on Dr. Hill, well it was clear he was behind the hit. Blood and Money goes into great depth about this. But most anyone at the thought Dr. Hill got his comeuppance.
