Where did Christina get the money to live in N.Y.?

I thought Joan had basically cut her off, but she was going to acting school, had her own apartment and only a small role on a soap opera. I'm sure there is a backstory there that wasn't told in the movie.

Even with Francesca Hilton, her father cut her off financially (I'm not sure about Zsa Zsa) and I've read there was several times she was homeless and living in a flophouse with murderers.
