I picture Faye Dunaway when I think of Joan Crawford.

I try to remember what she really looked like, but it's all Faye Dunaway for me. Kind of the same thing with Patsy Cline and Jessica Lange.

That goes to show just how iconic this movie actually is.

That's funny I was just thinking when I was little I thought Faye was Joan Crawford in real life.

I see a passing similarity, sometimes:

Every time I watch a new episode of "Feud", I think that Dunaway did a much better job of capturing Crawford's larger-than-life, self-created persona.

Lange seems to be trying to show the real woman under the mask, but I think that misses the mark, I think that by that point in her life Crawford's persona of the great big movie star who was gracious and ladylike unless someone pissed her off WAS the real self. There was a tremendous artificiality about Crawford, which was one of the things that made her such a big star, and Dunaway got it and Lange doesn't.
