did anyone understood the ending of the movie?

when they ate from the trashcan and they all went to the hospital, then some mysterious guy said they had to escape. So they all start running and went to a snowy mountain where a band played some tunes. What was all that?

I liked the movie very much up to this point. There I lost it!

I take it as a metaphor for "The starving class goes to heaven." It's similar to the finale of De Sica's "Miracle in Milan", where the poor fly to a better land on broomsticks.
