Ferox is pretty tame

I guess it was horribly violent back when it was released, but i found it incredibly tame. The animal violence is disgusting, but the so called torture of the native is not that disturbing, as is the castration of Joe, they really dont show anything! Just a split second..and maybe im wrong, but after they chop off joes dick..how is he able to walk and run out of the camp? Is it all the coke hes on that he feels no pain? All in all, wasnt that violent.

Compared to Cannibal Holocaust it is tame, but it is still some pretty gruesome content. This is the third time I watched the film and I was still disturbed by the scene where the top of the man's skull is cut off. If you're not used to watching these kinds of films, I can see how it would be very upsetting.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

It's more the overall setting that does it for me, not the violent bits. The late 70s/early 80s film realism (compared to modern day CGI) makes it more disturbing.

I agree. i was told it was one of the cruelest movies around and so i set out to watch it expecting to see a lot of cruelty, but the only real cruelty i saw outside of animal killings, were the castration and the breast-hook scenes, both of whom happen offscreen.

The animal cruelty (particularly that turtle decapitation) was far worse for me than any fake 70's cannibal porn.
Almost as bad as Milo and Otis.

reply

I take it you have never seen a farmer slaughter animals for food? Thats exactly what the natives were doing with the turtle.

reply

Yeah, I also enjoy hot dogs every now and again. Doesn't mean I need to see how they are made.
I have no problem with native tribes eating turtles.

reply

Well, then, dont watch it? Its not like someone forced you to watch this movie.

Dusting off that old chestnut huh?

reply

I mean, you said you dont like watching something, so, dont. whats the problem?

For what it's worth, it's never actually been confirmed that Milo and Otis killed animals during its production, and there's anecdotes from people who were on the set saying they didn't. It wasn't ASPCA-certified because it wasn't an American production.

reply

I think they are both pretty tame. The acting is the most scary and horrible thing about both movies! The slaughter of animals is nothing different that what most people don't want to see, but know about in all countries. The torture and dismemberment scenes were obviously fake, some pretty good, but still fake, and the bodies on the trees or stakes are really fakey looking.
