Okay...But Nothing Special


However, I did notice that Tarantino robbed yet another piece of dialogue from a samuraii film. The dialogue, "if you encounter God on your journey...God will be cut," was stolen or borrowed. Check it out, it's very noticeable.

It's a very old Zen paradox - "If you meet Buddha on the road, kill him". I don't think anybody quite knows what it means, which is probably the point. Quoted, as you say, in this film, in Kill Bill and many others.

There's a line between homage and plagiarism and Tarantino is a plagiarist, pure and simple. Now had he used his favourite lines and scenes of dialogue and altered them with a touch of his own originality, he'd garner a lot more respect. Ultimately he's merely a (and I loathe this term) fan-boy too in awe of what has come before.

Then again both he and his fans will defend his online reputation no matter what :D
