Quick Question

Does anyone know where I may find a copy of this movie subtitled instead of dubbed?

Buy the DVD

Actually, most DVDs you find for sale are the English dubbed version.
You need to specifically look and make sure they mention that its
subtitled, which is also the widescreen version. Its a bit more
expensive but worth it for the deleted segment and higher quality.

I'd like to find one, as well. It took me almost two decades but I finally got a good subtitled version of Shogun's Ninja, part of the Sonny Chiba Collection they put out. Great stuff!

I just got the DVD from Netflix and was dismayed to find how horrible the English dubbing is. I got disgusted and shut it off then I remembered there were options on the main screen. Glad I check it out because you have the option of watching it in the original Japanese language (with or without subtitles).

Being a fan of Japanese cinema, I enjoyed quite a bit about this movie, including the roles of a couple classic samurai that have appeared in movies in the 60s & 70s (no spoilers here) that were not mentioned in the cast list on Netflix.

I watched it off the Samurai Collection 9-Movie Pack from St. Clair Vision, featuring the rubbish dub only AND poor transfer. Ugh. I have to confess that I didn't find SR to be a well-aged movie, poor DVD quality aside. The grotesque factor is good, but it's a tad slow for my taste.

On the bright side, the box had a decent transfer of Chinese Connection/Fists Of Fury.

You might find it less ugh if you can get a decent copy with the authentic soundtrack and decent quality, Astro. Might be worth a try; it's not great art, of course, but it's unusual and rather fun.
