Blu-Ray Release

As Madman's biggest fan I dream at night about owning it on Blu-ray. Of course, CODE RED did a great 30th anniversary dvd release but still....who is with me?

I'm with ya! Would love to see a Blu-ray of this!!

I concur! there needs to be a BLU of this slasher classic.

If you have a device like a Playstation or a Roku box, Vudu has the film available for purchase in HDX. HDX isn't streaming--you have to download the film to the device to play it, and they use 1080P encoding, so it's exactly Blu-ray quality. I only know because I've owned the Friday the 13th movies in full HD years before they finally saw a Blu-ray release this September. The quality of their HDX titles is exactly the same as Blu-ray, there is no difference, which is why you have to download them instead of streaming. Anyway, you can view Madman in full HD that way if you get tired of waiting.

I'd get it but given my last buying experience from the Code Red site, I'd have to say another company would have to sell it. I put an order in near the middle of January and nearly two months later I'm still waiting to either receive my purchase or a response to my two emails.

I would buy the blu ray

Code Red sucks, I picked up Just Before Dawn from them and the transfer was garbage. I'll grab Shakma from them because I love that film but that's it. An update however, I heard on a podcast this week this film has been picked up for blu release by Vinegar Syndrome.

Just picked up the Vinegar Syndrome transfer and it looks fantastic! After years of viewing it from a shoddy VHS its get to see this in 4k

I just got the Vinegar Syndrome Region 1 Blu-ray in the mail.  It's packed with extras, and I hear the movie looks great.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

reply

Blu-Ray? So that you can see the amazing cinematography? And restore it to its 1982 brilliance?! Lol cmon dude the movie wouldn't look any better on Blu-Ray. It's not that type of movie. I'm sure it didn't even look good when it was released.

Don't know much about Blu-ray, do you?

All film stock has more detail on the negative than current HDTVs can show. Blu-ray allows us to see more of the original image, but even then you're not seeing all of the detail. We are getting closer with 4K.

You seem ignorant about film vs digital formats. All old films have more resolution on their film negatives than Blu-ray can even display.
