Anyone else think that....(here be potential spoilers)

As far as I know I've just watched this for the first time. (I'm a 42 year old LIFELONG horror buff, and have watched literally thousands of B rate horror movies, from childhood on, so it wouldn't be incomprehensible that I saw this in my youth and just don't remember it.)

So about halfway through the movie I became utterly convinced that Max was going to turn out to be Madman Marz. (SPOILER ALERT: I was wrong, apparently.)

I'm not entirely sure why I thought this. Maybe it's because movies of more recent times have raised expectations that there simply has to be some sort of twist ending where a seemingly friendly (or ambiguous) character from earlier in the film turns out to be the killer. Maybe it's because they never showed the killer clearly until closer to the end of the movie, and when they finally did I thought he actually kind of resembled Max in a way. (I thought he would turn out to be wearing a mask.) I even came up with a theory that he was incensed by the idea of the naughty teenage camp counselors corrupting his younger charges and set out on a mission to save them from said corruption. (Hence none of the younger kids were ever really in any danger.)

I know this is a long shot but did anyone else have this notion when watching it for the first time?

Of course it would have made the scene where he receives the phone call from Betsy asking for help not make a lot of sense, but I figured it would be explained, only to have all my delusions shattered by the end of the film.

By the way I enjoyed this film quite a bit. I didn't think the acting was very good, but I found myself liking the characters anyway, and the movie definitely manages to generate a genuine feeling of suspense. For a movie of it's kind, I would give it a 7 out of 10.

I thought the same thing. I think the movie did it on purpose though. The killer has the same general body build as Max, and the name is similar. Also I noticed they specifically set it up so he's always gone when a killing happens. It was definitely a red herring move and deliberate by the film makers I think.

Yeah I actually wanted it to be Max, that would have made the film a slightly better
