7.6?

Way too low. You guys are insane.

The film was avant garde bordering on surrealism, Americans don't make films like that or have the capacity to appreciate them. It's beyond me how Kubrick was ever accepted there for his work, much less acclaimed for it.

This last installment with Fury Road was more of the same, and the general public's mentality hasn't changed...

American: "What a weird film, it doesn't have a single cliche or cheap joke thrown in between explosions"

Other American: "Lets sneak out and go watch the 554th Marvel film instead."

Some kid sitting behind them: (kicks the seat and checks their facebook page on their smartphone, illuminating the entire theater).

Surely you better understand the 7.6 rating now.

Hey I love Marvel, but watching Mad Max 2, tonight for the first time, after seeing Fury Road in theaters when it came out, and Mad Max 1 a few nights ago, I have one word for you.

Brilliant. Mad Max 2 is brilliant. Definitely see where Fury Road comes from. All started here.

Oh, I love a picnic. Acres and acres of sand and all of it in your food.

If you look at the demographics, you will see that the US voters gave this a much higher rating than the non-US voters.

Also, Americans make tons of great surreal and artistic films. Tons. You're just watching the wrong ones.

Also, it's Chinese people that love the superhero movies. They don't make those for Americans...

reply

Nope, just honest and accurate social commentary.

reply

Yes, stated pompously, with a soupçon of condescension, and some snark sprinkled atop.

reply

Someone using "soupçon " in a sentences accuses someone else of being pompous and pretentious? LOL

reply

1. This film is considered a classic in America.

2. Fury Road was just about as popular as your average Marvel movie.

3. Fury Road sucks

reply

The US produced Lynch, Kubrick and Malick. And apart from those three heavyweights surrealistic cinema has existed in American since AMERICA invented the modern medium.

So, what are you talking about.

matthi-92639 is full of shit. The Fury Road box office was 154.1 million in North America alone.

reply

Don't blame me; I scored it 10/10.

- HOW kin I be so brainless, when I is so smart?

reply

You could say that they're Mad

reply

I am a Yank and this was a 10. I saw this first before I even knew there was a Mad Max. It was rated R and I couldn't believe my mother took me until she told me years later she fell in love with Mel Gibson.

This is probably the most perfect action film ever.

reply

Agreed, the rating is absurd. There's many great films that aren't in IMDb's top 200 as well.
